Young
Carers
are children
under 18 who have had their lives significantly affected by the
impact of being involved in the caring of a family member with a
disability, chronic illness and/or through social circumstances
|
Young
Carers
can face
a range of problems. Their responsibilities can take them away from
their peer group, sometimes leading to poor school attendance and
social exclusion. They can face poverty and isolation, having never
spoken to anyone about the onerous duties they are undertaking.

Often
Young
Carers
suffer
in silence and keep lifestyles a secret. They fear that statutory
bodies may intervene and split up their families.
